  Delhi is capital and third largest city of India. This cosmopolitan city is divided into two parts Old Delhi & New Delhi. Delhi is situated on the west bank of Yamuna River and on south of Himalayas. Delhi is painted with colours of various cultures, traditions, religions from all over India. Delhi is a place for something for everyone it is a place not only for art, music and theatre lovers but also for food lovers.   Delhi History      

 

Delhi history begins with the creation of Indraprastha by the Pandavas and the makeover of this inhospitable gift of the Kauravas into a relaxing heaven. Delhi was the focal point for the first war of independence in 1857 and since then it became a spine in the eyes of the British. Delhi has been the hub of activities not only in the ancient period but also in the medieval period. Britishers too shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Azad Hind Fauz’s ultimate aim during freedom struggle was to capture Delhi and established Swaraj.  
 
  Delhi Festivals    
Delhi being the capital city celebrates all the religious, national and even place centric festivals of India. Festive Season starts from 13 January with Lohri, Holi in Mid March to Celebration of Christmas Day on December 25th with Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Dusherra, Durga Puja, Deepawali (Diwali), Id each celebrated with equal fevour.
 
  Delhi Cuisines    
Delhi is popular for its wonderful cuisine which is a mix of Mughlai, north Indian, Punjabi and street food and many more from different parts of country. Delhi has number of restaurants and hotels where you can dine according to budget and taste. Connaught place, the centre of Delhi has large variety of restaurant and café. Bengali Sweet mainly Rasgulla and Sandesh are common in Delhi’s sweet shop. Not only spicy South Indian cuisine but also oily Punjabi food can be found here.
 
  Shopping in Delhi      
Delhi is trade hub of North India. Dehi offer shoopers traditional and modern tech products in markets of Karol Bagh, Cannought Place, Chandni Chowk. Its shopping arcades offers traditional and contemporary crafts. Delhi Haat offers handicraft goods and delicious food
